Menurut NST (21/2/2001), Putra menanggung bunga dari hutang tertunggak sebanyak RM227.5 juta pada akhir 30/10/2000 kerana hutang RM2 bilion dari bank RHB dan CIMB. PUTRA Defaults Payment

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Projek Usahasama Transit Ringan Automatik Sdn Bhd (PUTRA) said it had informed its facility agent on Dec 24, 2001, that it would not be able to repay the amounts demanded for the loan of the RM2.0 billion Commercial Financing Facilities.

It said the company had informed the government of the situation and requested the government to appoint a qualifying substitute or itself purchase the assets of the railway in accordance with the terms of the Concession Agreement with the government of Malaysia dated Aug 7, 1995.

PUTRA said the facility agent vide their solicitors letter dated Dec 26, 2001, had served a Statutory Demand for the payment of the Conventional Facility (principal and interest) amounting RM1.16 billion and Islamic Facility (principal and profit) amounting RM1.18 billion.

In respect of the RM1.16 billion, PUTRA is also required to pay a further interest at the rate of 7.75 percent per annum from Dec 27 to Dec 29, 2001 and thereafter at the rate of 2.75 percent above Commerce International Merchnat Bankers (CIMB)'s one month effective cost of fund.

PUTRA said it was required to pay the outstanding amounts due within 21 days from Dec 27, 2001, failing which, winding-up proceedings will be taken against the company. -- BERNAMA
