[Inilah yang patut disarankan oleh ulama kita ! - Mat Teropong

Benar..Takkan sekadar solat hajat dan demo sahaja? Atau setakat menghabiskan air liur sahaja seperti sidang OIC yang langsung gagal menyekat penyembelihan rakyat Afghan yang tidak berdosa. Kita memerlukan tindakkan - bukannya menghamburkan kata-kata sahaja. - Editor]

UP Muslim clerics to boycott Coke, Pepsi

LUCKNOW: Top Muslim clerics in Uttar Pradesh said on Thursday they will exhort people during this Friday's prayer services to boycott Coke, Pepsi and other American and British products in a protest against air strikes on Afghanistan.

More than 40 clerics meeting in Lucknow called for the boycott, criticising US and British policies attacks on Afghanistan, and support of Israel.

"Pepsi and Coke are in the first boycott list," said Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, a cleric recommending the Shiite Muslim community. "We will offer special prayers for the innocent victims of the US attacks in Afghanistan," Jawwad said.

US and British planes have struck Afghanistan for four days after demanding that the Taliban militia that rules most of the country surrender Osama bin Laden and members of his al-Qaida group, accused by the United States of plotting the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington.

Muslims comprise nearly one-third of Lucknow's 2.7 million people and one-fourth of Uttar Pradesh state's 180 million population.

The clerics, representing both Sunni and Shiite sects said they would set up a council to coordinate strategy across India, which has the world's second largest population of Muslims, at 180 million. There have been a few, scattered demonstrations against the United States and in support of bin Laden.

The clerics who met in Lucknow rejected the Organization of Islamic Conference's backing to the US campaign against terrorism and decided to write protest letters to embassies of the OIC member countries in New Delhi.
